Pascal and Shannon's greatest day. When I was first set up on a blind date with my husband I never expected
I would be married in a 12th century chateau on the French Riviera.
Pascal was brought up in Nice, France. He worked in Monaco as a
chef before travelling with a friend and ending up in Vancouver. Set up
through mutual friends our romance flourished fast and within 4 months
I was off to the south of France to spend the most incredible summer.
By the next summer I returned to France, this time with my mother to
plan our wedding for the next year!
Planning a wedding abroad has challenges but is worth all the effort! Getting
married in a castle surrounded by statues with a view of the Mediterranean was
a real fairy tale come true.
I would suggest the first thing you do is look on the internet for a wedding
planner. We found an amazing British wedding coordinator who ended up
also being our dj and even offered to be the jp (we respectfully declined the
offer). Through him we found the location and he suggested english
speaking florists, caterers etc.
We had a certain style of photography in mind and Sandi Wilson exceeded
our expectations. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and
helped ease us through the day.
The people in France were amazing as soon as I realized it wasn’t Canada
and that they work on their own time. Even though it was a big trip to the
Riviera for our friends and family to make, they made it their holiday and we
all enjoyed it together.
The rewards outweigh the challenges of a wedding abroad. Our wedding day
will forever be in our hearts and memories as the greatest day for us shared
with friends and family!
